Hospital Appointment Covid-19 Delays

Due to the Covid pandemic, some NHS Hospital Trusts are experiencing delays in offering outpatient appointments. In some instances an urgent hospital outpatient appointment may have a waiting time of 6 months and a routine appointment of 12 months or more.

Please do not contact the GP surgery to try and speed things up. The practice does not have control over hospital waiting times.

If you try to book your outpatient appointment online, there may be little or no availability to book and you can opt to join the hospital waiting list for an appointment. 

Some services have shorter waiting times and if you are flexible in regard to which Hospital Trust you book an appointment with, you may receive a sooner appointment. If you are referred for suspected cancer, you will receive an appointment within 2 weeks.

Alternatively if you have been referred to the Royal Free Trust (Barnet, Chase Farm, Royal Free Hospitals), you can call the out-patient appointments call centre at Royal Free London (RFL). The team will be able to answer questions from patients waiting to be booked and those with upcoming appointments. The number is 0207 443 9757 (Mon to Fri, 8am-6pm).
